Control Burn

I don't think this impacts The Meadows, but may explain all the helicopter activity this afternoon.

STATION FIRE UPDATE
LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, September 8, 2009 – 2:30 p.m.) –
**There is a Control Burn taking place at the Foothill area which will go on throughout the afternoon or as weather permits. ** Fire breaks will be improved from Bear Creek toward Mt. Waterman, the San Gabriel drainage, and at strategic locations along Forest Highway 2. Crews will construct additional fireline from Chileno Canyon north to Twin Peaks drainage. Crews and equipment have begun repairing fireline along the west side of the fire.
The main focus will be to construct and improve fireline along the eastern perimeter of the fire.
