Woodsy Owl Sign Stolen

The Woodsy Owl sign has been stolen from lower Canyon Crest.

After being badly vandalized twice, our neighbor, Jane, rebuilt and reinstalled it.

Obviously, someone with a vehicle took the sign as it was quite heavy.

Just want to let our neighbors know that we called the Sheriff's Department 10 minutes ago to let them know that a car load of suspicious looking men were trolling up Risinghill Road telling us that they would take the dents out of our truck for $100.00. The man who got out of the car had a stack of business-looking cards that he kept hidden from viewing what was on them and they went up the hill and came down a few minutes later. The car was an older beat-up looking maroon color. The man was about 25-30 wearing a dark red shirt/jeans. All of the men were Hispanic and the ones in the car looked really rough.

What is worng with the people? Seriously? I think it has to be the same person who either doesn't like the sign or is able to sell them. Anyone have a solar powered digital camera with motion censor to setup down there?

I am so sorry. I very much liked that sign and know of the effort it took to place it there. What a shame we all suffer for the obvious self loathing of the perpetrators.

It also looks like the other side has been stolen too. I'm all for trying to catch these people on camera

I removed the Smokey sign yesterday so the county can repair the broken sign posts. It appears the vandal tried to kick the sign over from the Smokey sign, and when that failed put all his weight on the owl sign until he could pull it off. After the damaged post (split at the base of a 4x4) is repaired, I will return the Smokey sign...when it makes sense. IF anyone finds the owl sign - bring it to me and I will repair and re-install if possible. Jane S.

I recommend steel 4" posts set in 4 foot holes backfilled with concrete. The size of the sign allows plenty of leverage to be applied to damage the wooden posts. Also, wood will deteriorate over time. I see your wonderful signs when I walk my dogs. I live on lower Canyon Crest and will be happy to assist with construction. Robert C.

My boyfriend and I moved to the meadows this past summer and we loved those signs. I felt they added to the charm of our wonderful little neighborhood. We are all for bringing them back! Lynn N.
