"I thought you would like to know that our two Great Pyrenees were
on their job and alerted us to a bear sighting at about 7:15PM tonight. Two brown bears were roaming below our
house on Canyon Dell. They seemed to be deterred by the barking
of our dogs and took off up Millard Canyon toward the horseshoe
bend."

While driving up the hill this evening, I came upon one of the bears - it was walking down Canyon Crest Road heading toward the stream crossing. It appeared to be a juvenile. It eventually climbed up onto the hill below the houses on Canyon Crest.
Just to clarify, I'm pretty sure these were BLACK bears, which are the bears that usually live around here, no matter what their color. "Brown Bear" is the designation for grizzly bears, which generally keep to the more northern parts of the country.
I saw a medium–sized black bear on the lot of the corner house at the top of Rising Hill Road en route to my house after a short hike. He/She was very timid and brownish in color. This is the second one I've seen this year in that same spot...
